TURBINE FOR HIGHWAY TUNNELS FIRE PROTECTION
The new RRZ firefighting nozzle creates an atomized water cone with extensive ground coverage. This device operates with a multi-orifice head connected to a shaft, which is driven by a hydraulic turbine. The principle of operation is simple: a properly sized impeller transforms the tangential force of a water jet into torque applied to the shaft. The water flow is sufficient to power the turbine, which rotates using pressurized water and sprays through the multi-orifice head. The high-speed rotation creates a finely atomized water cloud that is evenly distributed in a perfect circle. Its straightforward design makes installation and maintenance quick and easy.
The multi-orifice head can instantly achieve a 180° spray angle, expanding quickly to full size, with improved atomization quality as pressure increases. At low pressures (1 to 2 bar), the nozzle achieves a wider wetting radius, up to 6 meters, while maintaining a relatively large droplet size. At higher pressures (around 5 bar), atomization is enhanced with smaller droplet sizes, creating an excellent rain effect on the ground.
