In paper production, water is a key component. During the initial stages of production, the solution consists of 95-97% water and 3-5% pulp and fiber. Throughout the paper production cycle, various chemicals are introduced to the pulp through nozzles, and water is used to clean cloth and felt with nozzles mounted on spray pipes.
PNR Italia's products are employed at all stages of paper production, including starch treatment, paper wetting, cleaning of felt, threads, fabrics, and rolls, as well as washing, foam abatement in headboxes, and paper trimming at the end of the production cycle. These solutions ensure efficiency and high-quality output in the paper manufacturing process.

Products for the Mixture Preparation Phase in the Paper Industry

The mixture preparation phase involves forming the dough that will eventually become paper. Initially, recycled paper, cardboard, and plastic and ferrous waste are inserted into the pulper. This process separates and hydrates cellulose fibers, creating a suspension—a mixture of fibers suspended in a 4% aqueous solution. Following pulping, the refining stage enhances fiber bonds, and the subsequent phases are mixing, dilution, and purging.

The Forming Section

After the mixture is mixed, diluted, dosed, and purified, it is ready to be transformed into a sheet of paper. The fibrous suspension is directed to the "headbox," the first part of the machinery in the Fourdrinier machine, which continuously forms the paper sheet.

In the forming section, suction boxes under the paper-forming net remove water from the fibrous mixture. By the end of the canvas area, the sheet has a water content of 60-70%, and this phase plays a crucial role in determining the final weight and thickness of the paper.

The Press Section and the Drying Area

Once the paper sheet is removed from the canvas, it moves onto a felt towards the Press section. In this area, heated steel cylinders apply uniform pressure to the sheet’s surface, causing it to lose more moisture.

To ensure the tape adheres properly to the cylinders, drying felt presses against the cylinder surface to absorb additional water. From this point, the dehydration of the sheet occurs through heat in the drying section, where the paper passes between progressively heated cylinders.

The Set-Up Section

Following the drying process, the paper goes through the final production stages:
The paper roll is transformed into rolls and/or sheets, with the sheet being wrapped onto itself by a winder called a "pope." This forms the "mother coil," which can weigh several quintals and has a width equal to the machine’s working width.

The phases in the set-up section that conclude the paper production process include:

· Cutting into sheets

· Packaging and labeling

Washing of Cloth and Felt in the Paper Industry

Self-Cleaning Shower Pipes for Washing Cloth and Felt

Paper production requires a significant amount of water, and wastewater is often reused to clean filters and felts, helping save costs and reduce water consumption. However, reclaimed water contains solids and impurities that can clog nozzles and lead to maintenance shutdowns. To address this issue, self-cleaning spray pipes and nozzles are the optimal solution. Their innovative design significantly improves both production efficiency and industrial competitiveness.

Self-cleaning spray pipes are equipped with a rotating steel brush that can be operated either automatically or manually, along with an escape valve at the outlet. The rotating brush removes dirt from the pipe walls using water.

The nozzle body features a mobile piston, with the opening and closing controlled by the operating water pressure. For example, when nozzles wash mesh fabrics with an operating pressure of 3 bar, this pressure exceeds the spring force of 1 bar, causing the piston and nozzle body to come close together, creating a flat fan spray. If the inlet pressure is reduced to 0.5 bar (lower than the spring force of 1 bar), the piston and nozzle body separate, allowing the nozzle to open to its maximum distance. The water pressure stays at 0.5 bar and removes any buildup, returning to normal operation afterward.

Self-cleaning nozzles are easy to install, align, and maintain, providing significant time and cost savings. The spring force is adjustable based on the customer’s plant working pressure.
