Pneumatic Atomizing Nozzles
Lance Atomizers
In continuous casting—particularly slab casting—lance atomizers replace conventional compact atomizers, also known as block atomizers. Unlike block atomizers, where the atomizer body is integrated into a compact unit, lance atomizers feature an extension with the spray tip positioned at the exit end.
This design is necessary due to the geometric constraints of inserting the spraying pipe between rolls, where clearance is often minimal. It also allows feeding pipes to be positioned away from the high-temperature zone near the slabs, improving durability and maintenance convenience.
Lance atomizers can be classified based on several parameters:
- Atomizer Body: The section where atomization occurs, connected via a plug-in system to the fluid supply ducts. Depending on the model, it may have different shapes and be either cast or machined.
- Pipe Geometry: Available as a straight or bent pipe.
- Pipe-to-Body Connection: The extension pipe can either be welded onto the block body or screwed into place using a locknut.
